It’s an undeniable fact that the Italians know how to enjoy life: good food, great wine and quality time with the people who matter – and that’s what this fondly restored three-bedroom farmhouse is all about. Facing south and with views you could lose yourself in, it’s a dream of a location in the hills around Radda in Chianti and right in the centre of the Golden Triangle of Florence, San Gimignano and Siena, which are all about an hour’s drive away.
However, before you go exploring, there’s much to be enjoyed in and around your comfortable villa. It’s a typical wooden-beamed, terracotta-tiled Tuscan home, enhanced by some very user-friendly contemporary touches, thanks to the owner's keen eye for detail. Pretty pastels in the living-dining area and bedrooms create a restful, uplifting mood and the traditional-style kitchen is well-equipped, be it for family meal prep or just ice and a slice for your Aperol spritz.
Outside, a well-kept lawn rises up behind the house and leads to the swimming pool, which is heated in the cooler months and has a covered seating area for escaping the sun. It’s an outside space made for living in, with a summer kitchen, wood-burning barbecue and covered dining area that’s perfect for balmy evenings spent in the company of a Chianti Classico – the fruits of an afternoon tasting session in one of the area’s many boutique wineries.
Local area
While getting out and about may mean simply borrowing one of the villa’s mountain bikes, it can also be a cultural adventure, starting with Radda in Chianti, about a 15-minute drive away. This walled medieval town was the capital of Chianti, now it’s a wonderful place to catch a summer festival with music, dancing and, of course, more of that excellent local food and wine.
If Tuscany is unfamiliar holiday territory, the iconic trinity of Florence, Siena and San Gimignano should be on your list. Each is a cultural treasure, where visitors gather round the main squares to drink coffee and people watch, sit down to world-famous cuisine, dip into upmarket boutiques or disappear into the cool interiors of museums and galleries where centuries of art and history unfold before your eyes. And all this is just part of what makes Chianti such a wonderful place to stay.

A fantastic week in the heart of Chianti in an idyllic villa with everything you could ever need, just beautiful!
Ever since we first travelled with Simply Crete (that shows it was a while ago) you've never failed to suggest nice places to stay and, equally important, always provided the back-up service efficiently too. Colto dei Pallanti, where we holidayed this year, was no exception.
Alessandro and his wife were so very welcoming, with a full table of food waiting for us on our arrival. The house and gardens were beautifully kept and well cared for, and the owners had clearly gone out of their way to offer a high standard for their guests. We couldn’t fault anything. As always, with Simpson Travel, we expected the exceptional and we got it, which is why we use them again and again. Thank you for a care-free and luxurious holiday.
So many thanks to Alessandro and Nicoletta for the most wonderful stay in this fabulous place. It has been the perfect location – the house has been such a welcoming sanctuary with all the facilities you could wish for and lots of character and charm. The gardens are incredible and it’s been difficult to tear ourselves away from sitting, surrounded by the beautiful sights and sounds – the views are stunning. The girls have loved the pool and especially the hot tub! A perfectly situated house to explore the very beautiful local area. So much to see, do and EAT, will have to come back again. Thank you so much, Alessandro and Nicoletta, for your wonderful hospitality and letting us enjoy your beautiful home. Thank you especially for the very generous and delicious feast you provided on our arrival. What a wonderful welcome! We look forward to returning soon!
Customer feedback This was heaven. Perfect peace in a stunning location and a fabulous villa. The owners leave no stone unturned and cut no corners to make the house perfect. Little things that make a difference eg really sharp knives in the kitchen and high quality air con and Wi-Fi. Most of all, it’s just beautiful and so peaceful. You don’t want to go anywhere else!
Thank you Alessandro and Nicoletta for a lovely stay in your beautiful house – especially for your warm welcome and generous meal. We have hugely enjoyed the excellent facilities provided. The swimming pool, patio areas and hot tub have all been thoroughly enjoyed. The house is a lovely mix of modern comfort and traditional features with surrounding views of the beautiful Tuscan countryside. We have stayed in the villa more than we normally would, as it has been so relaxing. We hope to visit again! Thank you for the beautiful villa and the helpful service provided by Amanda.
Thank you to Alessandro and Nicoletta. We loved the outside spaces and the cosy house – every bedroom was lovely – breakfast outside on the patio, the lovely barbecue and perfect sized swimming pool with views to die for. We loved Modena (the town was so welcoming) and seeing the Ducati and Maserati factories. Siena was brilliant – loved the whole place – so incredibly atmospheric. Thank you Simpson Travel for all the helpful notes about the area – your wonderful rep, Amanda, who always checked in and answered our many questions diligently. We felt Simpson Travel looked after us responsibly. It was a memorable trip for all of us. A big thank you.
We loved the Villa. It was very private, all their bedrooms were lovely and the bathrooms with good aspects. The Villa worked well, with great outdoor spaces to relax and eat. The pool was gorgeous and lovely and warm. Everything was clean and tidy. The lighting was excellent. Also things like washing machines, dryers, irons and dishwashers all worked. It was a well thought out villa which had been well designed to accommodate six people very comfortable and had incredible views and beautifully maintained gardens. We loved it.
Thank you Alessandro and Nicoletta for a wonderful week in your idyllic home. The location is fantastic, so peaceful. The house is really well equipped and there was everything we needed. We particularly enjoyed the spa facilities, what luxury!
Thank you for a fantastic week, we have really enjoyed our stay. The villa and gardens are fabulous and the view is amazing. We have enjoyed the coolness of the hilltop location - a welcome respite from the heat!
Thank you Alessandro and Nicoletta for a fabulous stay, our second in two years and certainly one that we hope to repeat in the future.
We had a wonderful week relaxing by the pool and exploring the countryside. Especially enjoyed the gardens filled with bees and butterflies, the frog in the pool and passing deer and foxes and wild boar. Stunning location!
Perfectly situated close to Radda in Chianti, the setting and views are stunning. You could spend your whole holiday just at the farmhouse; enjoying the numerous outdoor eating and sitting areas listening to the birdsong and cicadas and watching the butterflies. The accommodation is very comfortable and exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed the thoughtful extras like the hot tub, bikes and table tennis. I am sure the sauna would be very welcome in the winter. Being in the middle of the Chianti region, there were lots of places to visit within an hour - 1 1/2 hours drive. Alessandra and Nicoletta – were on hand when we needed them as was Amanda our local Simpson Travel Rep. We had a wonderful holiday.
We had such a beautiful week in this stunning villa. The grounds are so wonderful especially the view at dusk. The villa is so peaceful. Thank you for making our trip so special.
What a wonderful welcome! The facilities are great, scenery stunning and the villa is very comfortable. Lots to do around the villa as well as further afield. Thank you Alessandro, Nicoletto and Kumar for making our stay so comfortable.
We have lived a fairy tale in this beautiful house! Thank you for giving us the opportunity to spend such an amazing time in this quiet, harmonious ‘oasis’! Alessandra and Nicolatta – you were always there for us and we appreciated it very much.
A true indicator of how good a travel agent is has to be when there is a time of crisis/uncertainty, and Simpson Travel has certainly impressed us. Having originally booked a villa in Provence, the Covid-19 quarantine rules meant we needed to alter our plans, first to Greece and then (6 hours later!) a further switch to Tuscany. At all points pre-departure, the services of David and Jonathan (our local concierge) were exceptional. We had a wonderful time at Colto dei Pallanti. The location of the villa near Radda in Chianti was ideal for day trips into Florence, Siena and San Gimignano as well as being in the centre of the Chianti Classico wine area – and the villa has the best wine shop within easy walking distance: Castello de Albola! The villa itself was great and we were very impressed by all the additional steps that had been taken regarding Covid measures: hand sanitisers on entry and in every bathroom, additional masks provided (although we hope this won't have to continue for too long!). Alessandro went out of his way to make us feel welcome at the villa. Any questions or issues we had about the villa were immediately addressed by Jonathan and Alessandro. Jonathan was a superb concierge – always seeming to be on hand to answer any queries/questions we had about markets/trips. His tips in the villa guidebook were spot on – especially about where to park in Siena! In summary, we all had a superb time in Tuscany – we felt privileged to have been able to visit the region and see all the sights at a time when there are significantly fewer visitors, but at the same time, felt totally safe and comfortable. Thank you Simpson Travel – we certainly hope to book again with you in 2021!
Many thanks to our concierge, Jonathan, for all his help during our stay – it was lovely to have recommendations and assistance booking restaurants. We had a wonderful time in Tuscany and the villa was beautiful. Its location was idyllic and the amenities luxurious. We made use of a private chef (again arranged by Jonathan) for birthday celebrations which were wonderful.
After a 3½-hour drive from Venice, arriving at the villa late afternoon was more than a welcome delight. We were expecting a beautiful property, while it exceeded all expectation. We loved spending a week with a mix of relaxing by the pool and in the garden and day trips to San Gimignano and Florence. A highlight was the string trio concert dedicated to Enzo Morricone’s music in Radda’s piazza. Another highlight was the wine tour and degustation lunch at the D’Abola vineyard across the road. We also had a lovely meal at the osteria in La Piazza, 10km up the road. Thank you to Sandro and Jonathan for your hospitality. We’ve had a great stay.
What a fantastic week in a fabulous villa. We have been spoilt with the hot weather, which has allowed us to make good use of the pool – and enjoy the extraordinary views. The spread that greeted us on our arrival was wonderful and exactly what we needed after a long drive – a feast of cold meats, chargrilled veg, quiche, bread and wine! For a birthday treat we booked Simone to cook for us – which was an amazing meal and Allesandro gifted us a beautiful birthday cake, which was a surprise. We visited Siena and San Gimignano – the latter in the early evening for dinner, which was far more pleasant than during the heat of the day. Sunday included a trip to Panzano to buy fresh fruit, veg and cheeses from the market – but the highlight was the steak from Dario – world famous butcher – where we were greeted with a glass of chianti. Jonathan, our rep, was invaluable – assisting us with restaurant reservations, parking suggestions and general help.
We considered ourselves extraordinarily lucky that we achieved our holiday, booked in January, just as travel restrictions were lifted. Many thanks to both Simpson and the property owner for their patience, deferring payment of the balance until we were sure that both FCO advice and flights could be confirmed. The house is a delight, with many facilities (barbecue, sauna, table tennis, bicycles, outdoor kitchen). Fantastic pool, great outdoor eating and sitting area, all within easy reach of lively villages and cities. The attention to detail was phenomenal: the unmade road below the outdoor sitting area was regularly misted with water (automatically) to prevent dust clouds! We never visit the same property twice, but this may be the exception.
The post Covid-19 lockdown trip! The villa is perfect and if we had to hunker down for a week or two – no problem – but the accessibility of Siena, Florence and the local villas drew us out. On the last day we managed a trip to Volpaia, which we thoroughly recommend. We never felt ‘unsafe’ with Covid-19 here.
We have had a wonderful week and would like thank everyone for their support to ensure this happened. Amanda was very efficient in guiding us to the property and showing us round. The villa is beautiful offering some of the best views.
This was either the third or fourth time we have stayed in one of your villas. Authenticity is a rare commodity in the travel business. The hopes so easily aroused as you thumb through glossy and misleading photographs under leaden British skies seldom survive contact with reality. But not so with Simpson Travel. When you say something's nice, it REALLY is nice. You understand the elements of holiday magic better than anyone else I have come across: how to bring out the individuality of your various locations, take us a little closer to understanding what makes them beautiful and coax us out of our settled way of looking at life. For all of which, much thanks. You will be our first port of call when we plan our next holiday. Amanda and Karola could not, incidentally, have been nicer or more helpful.
We had a lovely week in Tuscany. The villa was perfect for our needs and we enjoyed relaxing by the pool in the great weather. Time spent in Radda and Greve was interesting and enjoyable. Thank you for the welcome pack which was a great help.
What a beautiful location. So perfectly placed to visit some key spots. Highly recommend a visit to San Gimignano, Sienna and Montepulciano, all within 1 hour – 1hour 20 minutes’ drive through beautiful country roads. Had a lovely last night meal at Botte del Bacco and Via Oslria was lovely too. Enjoy your stay and thanks to Alessandro and Karola.
Colto dei Pallanti is a beautiful villa in a gorgeous part of Tuscany. We loved the fact that we had access to mountain bikes, and the boys loved the pool and table tennis. As for the view… Our particular highlights were Radda in Chianti which is lovely – a great setting and decent restaurants. We were lucky enough to be in Siena for the Palio di Siena. We saw the warm up three days before. Siena is a beautiful place and well worth the visit. The Florence walking tour was excellent, very interesting even for my 7 and 12-year-olds. Castello di Albola vineyard could not be closer – the wine tour took two hours and was interesting and led to a few purchases! Monteriggioni is charming.
Colto dei Pallanti is in a great location and is a well-furnished and comfortable villa. We loved the gardens and views, and enjoyed several meals in Radda. We loved visiting the villages in the lovely countryside around. We enjoyed Castello di Brolio, an impressive castle with 360° views and the abbey Badia a Coltibuono. We had brilliant assistance from Amanda, the Simpson Travel representative, and also the villa owner, Alessandro.
