NEW FOR 2025

Described by our Mallorca expert as ‘classy but not stuffy’, this gorgeous establishment is everything a city boutique hotel should be and more. The San Jaume is a converted, 18
th-century manor house, located on a quiet, cobbled side-street in Palma. The interiors are elegantly contemporary, preserving the massive stone pillars of the original structure alongside paintings, sculpture and illustrations from acclaimed local artists. The effect is impressive, topped off by a jasmine-scented roof terrace. There’s room here to top up your tan on the loungers by the plunge pool, or you can simply sit back and relax with views over the old town, and a glass of perfectly chilled cava in your hand. If you’re more gym-bunny than sun-seeker (and of course you can be both), there’s no need to miss a beat of your training thanks to the in-house gym, plus personal training and yoga sessions by arrangement.

Rooms at the San Jaume are an indulgent affair, ranging from deluxe doubles to a suite with a 30m2 private terrace with stunning city views. Palma packs a lot into its narrow streets and wide, tree-lined boulevards, with everything from tiny tapas bars to Michelin-starred restaurants to sustain you as you explore. Shopping ranges from high street to high end, and in addition to the iconic cathedral, there are many museums and galleries to discover. And when you’ve maxed out the day and crave a quiet space to recover, you’ll find just what you need back at base, be it a soothing massage in the spa, or cocktails and tapas in the stylish El Comado restaurant.

We recommend combining a short stay at San Jaume with a week at one of our Mallorca villas. Please contact us for information and prices.

The small city of Palma is Mallorca’s capital and cultural hub, ideal for a city break and the perfect add-on to a week or two in one of our Pollensa villas. Rich in history, it’s also ripe for fun, from tapas bars to designer stores and a vibrant seafront full of upmarket beach clubs to rival anything you’d find in Marbella.

The city skyline is dominated by the huge, Gothic cathedral known as La Seu, unmissable in every sense of the word. It enjoys an incredible location on the waterfront, but when the sun is high you can retreat into the narrow shady streets of the old town, or take a seat in the Plaza Major and enjoy Palma’s laid-back café culture as you watch the world go by. Cultural highlights include Es Baluard Museum, proud home of some notable Picassos and Dalís, and the royal Almudaina Palace, with its wonderful harbour views. No Palma short break would be complete without a stroll along the Paseo de Born, an elegant-tree lined avenue and the city’s premier shopping destination.

Eating out in Palma takes you on a journey far beyond tapas. Pick your own picnic at the super-trendy Santa Catalina Food Market or head for the port and its celebrated sea-food restaurants. Keep it low-key and local with the best of the island’s wines and olive oils or treat yourself to a Michelin star or two to see just how sophisticated this bijou little capital can be.
